Who is Jesus?
Jesus was with God in the beginning: |
| |
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1
The Word it is talking about is Jesus. He was with God when God created the world. |
Jesus is God's Son: |
| |
"For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son (Jesus) that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
Jesus is God's only Son. It is so awesome to think that God loves us enough that He was willing to give his only Son so that we could be with Him. Jesus lived a life as a man, and endured beatings that were so bad He was not recocnizable, and then He was hung on a cross, a very painful death. God loves you enough that He let His only Son do that for you. |
Jesus came to the Earth to live as a man: |
| |
"Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himslef by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." Philippians 2:8
He came to earth as a man. When Jesus came to earth, He did not come as a king, He came as an average person. He was very humble. |
Jesus was tempted, just as we are, but He never sinned: |
| |
"And the tempter came and said to Him, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'" Matthew 4:3&4
Just like us, Jesus was faced with tempation. The cool thing here is that the weapon He used to defeat satan was something that we have as well: The Word of God (The Bible). |
Jesus performed many miracles: |
| |
"As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, cryin out, "have mercy on us, Son of David!" When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." Then He touched thier eyes, saying, "It shall be done to you according to your faith." And their eyes were opened." Matthew 9:27-30
That is only one of many miracles that Jesus performed. He also cleansed a Leper, stilled a storm, healed a paralytic, raised the ruler's daughter from the dead, cured a demon-possessed mute man, fed five thoughand people with five loaves of bread and two fish, and that is still only a small portion of his miracles. God created the earth, therefore, can He not do anything? |
Jesus died on the cross for our sins: |
| |
"[Jesus] gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father." Galatians 1:1
When Jesus went to the cross, He had you in mind. He did not have to die on the cross. He could raise other people from the dead (The story of Lazarus can be found in John 11:43), therefore He could have kept himself from dying. He died because He thought of You and wanted you to be able to have eternal life in Heaven. |
Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven: |
| |
"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me." John 14:6
The only way to get to Heaven is through a Personal relationship with Jesus. The Bible makes it very clear. We can never be good enough to get to Heaven on our own. We can not just believe that there is a God, because we can not get to that God without Jesus.. |
